Wales could be on the cusp of an offshore wind boom.  This will be discussed at the next session of the Arup and RenewableUK Cymru Virtual Energy Network on Thursday 26 November at 2pm.

Projects such as RWE’s Awel y Môr, Blue Gem Wind’s ‘Erebus’ Floating Offshore Wind project, and the potential of sites identified by The Crown Estate’s 4th round of offshore wind licencing could lead to Welsh benefits on a scale far greater than previously seen.   With both Welsh and UK Governments committed to harnessing renewable energy to drive green recovery, the Virtual Energy Network group will ask how will Wales capture the benefits?  What have we learned to date and what would success look like for Wales by 2030?

The session will be hosted by Rhys Jones from RenewableUK Cymru and David Brown from Arup and will include contributions from Alastair Gill from RWE and the Offshore Energy Alliance, David Jones from Blue Gem Wind, Miriam Noonan from the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and Andy Reay from Associated British Ports.
