Not content with being a vocal supporter for all renewable energy – including onshore wind – and steering through ground-breaking legislation on the Environment and for the Well-Being of Future Generations, the Minister for Natural Resources has pulled another rabbit out of the hat with the Green Growth Wales fund.

The fund, potentially holding as much as £100 million, could be used to invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency or energy from waste, and is currently subject to consultation.

Speaking about the announcement, David Clubb said:

“Once again it’s heartening to see the Welsh Government showing strong leadership on issues of renewable energy and sustainable development. In contrast to recent UK Government announcements which have caused huge uncertainty for onshore wind and photovoltaics, investors in Wales can be assured of a warm welcome and a policy direction which is strongly pro-renewable.

“We welcome this initiative which has the potential to accelerate deployment of renewable energy in Wales, and we would urge our members and wider stakeholders to respond to the consultation so that the fund most appropriately represents the views and potential of our industry.”
