We were saddened to hear today of the demise of Southern Solar, a Wales-based company which has been trading from Caerphilly since 2002.
This brings to three the number of companies which have closed in the last week as the UK Government’s policy proposals wreak havoc on the renewable energy sector.
Speaking about the sad news, David Clubb said:
“After earlier warnings from the wind industry, and the problems afflicting such industry stalwarts as Mabey Bridge and Dulas, the solar industry is now sadly feeling the full brunt of the economic lunacy of the current Government, who seem to think that only the fracking and nuclear sectors employ ‘hard-working’ families.
“To increase the human and financial cost of unemployment by savaging the green energy industry is economic incompetence of the highest order, and at a time when almost every other country on the planet is encouraging the green energy sector – and reaping the benefits – the UK is isolated in its idiotic policy incompetence.
“These high-quality Welsh jobs will be sorely missed, and our thoughts are with the families of those made redundant by Ministers in London who appear to have no heed for environment, economy or society.”
