Gwnaeth Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros yr Amgylchedd a Materion Gwledig, Lesley Griffiths, datganiad ar ynni yn y Senedd yr wythnos hon. Gweler yma am mewnwelediad ychwanegol (aelodau yn unig).

Mae’r cyhoeddiad rhagflaenu nifer o uchelgeisiau pwysig, gan gynnwys:

  • Canolbwyntiad parhaus ar leihau’r defnydd o ynni
  • Canolbwyntiad parhaus ar leihau defnydd o danwydd ffosil
  • Mynd ati i reoli’r trawsnewid i economi carbon-isel

Yr agweddau mwyaf diddorol ar gyfer y sectorau seilwaith cynaliadwy oedd amnaid at effaith enfawr o gludiant ar ollyngiadau drwy gerbydau carbon isel a newid moddol, datblygu llwybrau ynni, a datblygu targedau ar gyfer ynni adnewyddadwy, gan gynnwys ar gyfer ynni cymunedol.

“Dw i’n calonogi gan cyfeiriad teithio, a hefyd trwy frwdfrydedd trawsbleidiol ar gyfer newid yn gyflymach ac yn fwy dwys”

Mynegodd y gwrthbleidiau rhwystredigaeth gyda diffyg manylder, ond faint o gefnogaeth drawsbleidiol am fwy o weithredu, a gweithredu cyflymach, ar ynni cynaliadwy a thrafnidiaeth, yn galonogol.

Cyhoeddodd y diwydiant gwynt ar y tir llythyr ar y cyd mewn ymateb i’r datganiad ynni. Mae’r llythyr yn cefnogi’r cyfeiriad teithio, ac ymdrechion a wnaed gan Lywodraeth Cymru i ymgysylltu รข Llywodraeth y DU. Mae hefyd yn tynnu sylw at y manteision niferus o wynt ar y tir i Gymru.

Energy statement; another step forward

Dec 8, 2016

The Cabinet Secretary for Environment & Rural Affairs, Lesley Griffiths, made a statement on energy in the Senedd this week. See here for additional insight (members only).

The announcement heralded a number of important ambitions, including:

  • Continuing focus on reducing energy use
  • Continuing focus on reducing fossil fuel use
  • Actively managing the transition to a low-carbon economy

The most interesting aspects for the sustainable infrastructure sectors were a nod to the huge impact of transport on emissions via low-carbon vehicles and modal shift, developing energy pathways, and developing targets for renewables, including for community energy.

“I’m encouraged by the direction of travel, and also by cross-party enthusiasm for faster and more profound change”

Opposition parties expressed frustration with a lack of detail, but the degree of cross-party support for more action, and more rapid action, on sustainable energy and transport, is encouraging.

The onshore wind industry published a joint letter in response to the energy statement. The letter endorses the direction of travel, and the efforts that have been made by Welsh Government to engage with UK Government. It also points out the multiple benefits of onshore wind to Wales.
