RenewableUK Cymru is pleased to announce that the first sponsor of the 2018 Smart Energy Wales Conference is confirmed as Wales and West Utilities.

Wales & West Utilities (WWU) have a strong association with the event, having sponsored it several times over previous years. They are regarded as a pioneer amongst the gas networks for their ground-breaking work on innovative projects.

WWU supports a range of activity which aims to help decarbonise the gas network, and are pro-active in leading discussion and debate in the energy sector in Wales to support the wider sustainability goals of Welsh Government, industry and civil society.

With gas being such an integral part of the economy – and likely to dominate the heat sector for many decades to come – the ability of gas networks to respond to issues of climate change, cost and future energy systems is critical.

WWU has shown time and again their flexibility in thinking and in practice, and their contribution to this event is very welcome.

“We’re delighted that Wales & West Utilities are once again supporting this celebration of innovation in energy” – David Clubb

Speaking about the sponsorship, David Clubb, Director of RenewableUK said:

Wales and West Utilities has a stirling reputation in the sector for being far-sighted, and for actively engaging in ways which will help decarbonise the gas supply in the shortest possible time. We’re delighted that they have agreed to support us once again.

Steve Edwards, Wales and West Utilities’ Director of Regulation and Commercial said:

We have a long-standing engagement with RenewableUK, and with the Smart Energy Wales event. Our customers depend on us to keep the gas flowing to heat homes and power businesses in a way that is safe, affordable, reliable and sustainable. And they expect that we prepare our vital infrastructure for the future too. This sponsorship is a way for us to show our leadership in this area.
