Tidal Lagoon Power yesterday released a video describing the UK-wide benefits of developing the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, the potential precursor to a series of tidal lagoons across the UK and globally.

The video describes the huge opportunities which would arise for a whole host of companies, as well as pointing out the considerable interest from the steel industry, which is currently facing significant problems.

Tidal Lagoon Power has a commitment to source 50% of the project value from Wales, with up to 65% from the UK, making it a huge economic driver for the domestic manufacturing sector.

Speaking about the launch of the video, David Clubb said:

“I was privileged to be at the official video launch in Pembrokeshire yesterday, and the excitement within the audience at the Marine Energy Pembrokeshire seminar was palpable.

“We have urged the UK Government to make a positive decision on the Swansea Tidal Lagoon project, and we continue to do so. This high quality video demonstrates the strong desire for a green light for the project from communities and industries right across the UK.

“This project could hail the renaissance of a significant part of the manufacturing sector, and it should not be delayed any further.”
