Jeremy Smith has been appointed Chairman of RenewableUK Cymru Strategy Group

Jeremy Smith, Welsh Development Manager at RWE Innogy UK Ltd, has been appointed the new Chairman of the RenewableUK Cymru Strategy Group.  He replaces Richard Evans from RES, who has chaired the group since 2013.

Speaking about his appointment, Jeremy Smith said: “It is a well-known fact that Wales is blessed with fantastic renewable energy resources. However we still have a very long way to go to catch up with the likes of Scotland who have built a thriving green economy on the back of renewables.  As Chairman I have a great opportunity to influence the activities of the sector in Wales, and will be working hard to highlight the huge benefits to Wales from our growing green energy industry.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Richard Evans for his contribution over the last two years.  It has been a busy time and he has helped RenewableUK Cymru steer its way through some major changes during this time.”

David Clubb, Director of RenewableUK Cymru, said: “Jeremy is a highly valued and experienced member of the RenewableUK Cymru Strategy Group and we are looking forward to working with him more closely.”

One of his first roles will be to address the Renewable Wales conference on 21 May in Cardiff, where hundreds of people will gather to discuss the issues facing the industry.”
