In a brief update on the Mid Wales Public Inquiry, DECC today announced that

“We expect decisions to be made early in the next Parliament”.

This additional delay to the determination of the onshore wind projects and associated infrastructure will inevitably postpone the investment, employment, training and community benefit funds which could be unlocked by these developments.

Commenting on the decision, David Clubb said:

“We would have liked to see a decision ahead of the election, so that the energies, enthusiasm and goodwill of industry, business and community could be harnessed to galvanise the economy of Powys as quickly as possible.

“Although there will be many across Wales who are disappointed by this postponement from the UK’s ‘Greenest Government Ever‘, we look forward to working with a new – and hopefully even greener – Government after May to bring the full benefit of these projects to Mid Wales.”
