ScottishPower has today announced that they will no longer be proceeding with their project at Dyfnant Forest.

Their announcement states:

“Unfortunately, with anticipated lengthy planning processes and major grid modernisation required, we are not confident the project can be delivered in a timeframe that would make it financially viable for us.”

Commenting on the news, David Clubb said:

“This decision has been taken on commercial grounds, and is an unfortunate but logical consequence of a planning system which has delivered massive delays to wind projects, large burdens to council planning officers and developers, and cost local communities and businesses many millions of pounds through lost opportunities for work and in community benefit funds.

“Although the planning system in Wales is likely to become faster and more able to tackle complex projects thanks to the Planning Bill in the National Assembly, those changes have clearly come too late for ScottishPower at Dyfnant. We wish ScottishPower the very best with their future activity.”
