In what is perhaps the last energy policy statement of a political party before Christmas, Plaid have today called for a publicly owned energy company for Wales, in the fashion of EDF (France) and Vattenfall (Sweden).

They have also called for responsibility over Crown Estate assets to be devolved to Wales.

Commenting on the announcement, David Clubb said:

“Whilst there is currently a lack of detail on both proposals, we welcome the involvement of any political party in the energy debate, and will work proactively with all sides to facilitate the development of renewable energy sources in Wales, and to make Wales a beacon for investment in smart energy and storage technologies”.
