Today we welcome the launch of the “Local Supply Chain Opportunities in Onshore Wind – Good Practice Guide” published by RenewableUK.

The Good Practice Guide takes companies right through each phase of developing an onshore wind farm in detail. It explains how local businesses can work with developers to secure contracts – maximising the local content of projects in their area.

Today also saw work on the first foundations for Pen y cymoedd wind farm which was highlighted by Ed Davey in his introduction to the Guide:

“The Government is committed to onshore wind as part of the energy mix that is tackling climate change and boosting energy security though increasing ‘homegrown’ sources.

“Businesses in Wales, for example, have received £100m of contracts to help build the Pen-y-Cymoedd onshore wind farm. I hope to see many more local businesses across the UK compete and win contracts and I’d like to thank RenewableUK and everyone who has worked on the development of this guidance.”
