In response to the announcement, Dr David Clubb, Director of RenewableUK Cymru, said:

“RenewableUK Cymru welcomes the Silk Commission Report recommendations. The renewable energy industry in Wales is keen to work with a consenting regime that will help Wales benefit from its enviable green energy potential by increasing the number of renewable energy projects.

“We are pleased to see the proposal to link associated development with overall project consent, which will streamline the process and lessen uncertainty for developers. This links well with the assurance from the Minister for Natural Resources and Food earlier this year that the Welsh Government would establish targets for the sector following devolution of energy consenting powers.

“A renewable future promises a tremendous opportunity for business development, farm diversification and community empowerment, and we look forward to supporting Welsh institutions in creating a more stable and positive framework for the renewable energy sector.”
