Entries for the 2014 Wales Green Energy Awards are now open.  The awards, which are organised by RenewableUK Cymru, celebrate the success and achievements of the green energy industry in Wales.  The closing date for entries is 5pm on Tuesday 1 July 2014.

This is the second year the awards have taken place and winners will be announced in a ceremony on Thursday 9 October in St David’s Hotel & Spa in Cardiff.

Dr David Clubb, director of RenewableUK Cymru, said: “The overwhelmingly positive response to last year’s awards shows the clear desire for individuals and companies in the sector to showcase and celebrate the very best of the renewable energy sector from across Wales.

“I’m delighted we are holding the awards for a second year, and am also pleased to announce we have an additional category this year of Best Politician, which recognises the contribution to the development of renewable energy from a councillor, AM, MP or MEP.  I’m looking forward to testing the judgement of my colleagues on the awards panel to the very limits, with a greater variety and number of entries into all categories.”

The eight categories in the Wales Green Energy Awards are:

  • Contribution to Skills & Training
  • Engaging the Community
  • Supply Chain Development
  • Best use of renewable energy in the Public Sector
  • Outstanding Advocate
  • Renewable Energy Start-up
  • Outstanding Renewable Energy Project
  • Best Politician
