There was more good news for the wind industry in Wales this week with the announcement from South Wales based safety training provider, Safety Technology Ltd, to open a state-of-the-art wind energy safety training centre in the Port of Mostyn in North Wales.

The centre, which is supported by the Welsh Government, RenewableUK and the Global Wind Organisation, will offer a wide range of safety training for the wind industry and will play an integral part in the supply chain for the wind energy development programme in the neighbouring Irish Sea.

The Port of Mostyn has hosted some of the country’s major offshore wind energy construction projects and is the operations and maintenance base for RWE npower renewables’ North Hoyle, Rhyl Flats and Gwynt y Môr wind farms.

Managing Director of Safety Technology, Bob Dickens, said: “Safety Technology is really pleased to become a significant part of the supply chain for the wind energy hub being established in North Wales at the Port of Mostyn.

“The support from Welsh Government is particularly welcome and demonstrates the commitment to renewable energy in Wales and the continuing growth of our company.”
