The finalists for this year’s Wales Green Energy Awards have been announced today and include a weir just outside Cardiff, a farm in the Brecon Beacons, a solar farm in Carmarthenshire and a community energy scheme in the Ogwen Valley.
Now in their fourth year, the awards are organised by RenewableUK Cymru and celebrate the success and achievements of the green energy industry in Wales.
The judging panel is chaired by David Clubb, Director of RenewableUK Cymru and includes representatives from sponsors, Vattenfall, The Crown Estate, Invicta PA and Raymond Brown Renewables. Winners will be announced in a lunchtime ceremony on Friday 4 November in St David’s Hotel, Cardiff.
David Clubb said: “Once again the standard of entries has been very high and it’s been a hard job choosing finalists and winners. This year we have introduced a new category of Best Renewable Energy Agricultural Project and it was extremely interesting to see the breadth of such projects taking place throughout Wales.
“These awards always make me feel immensely proud of the sector I work in. Despite facing significant challenges, all of the finalists have displayed strong dedication and commitment, which is an extremely positive message for the green economy in Wales.”
The finalists for eight of the categories are listed below. The winner of the Political Award, which is sponsored by Invicta PA, will be announced in the ceremony on 4 November.
